Mike Citrola

Mike Citrola, a 29-year-old video artist and writer from East Metro New York, challenges societal norms and redefines productivity in his thought-provoking work. His theme of laziness questions self-value and reimagines contentment in a productivity-obsessed world.

In his video art, Mike uses nostalgia, incorporating an old CRT TV emitting a soothing hum. Surrounding the TV is a sculpture of living and dried plants, symbolizing nature's ease and persistence.

The video captures moments of pleasure and beauty from inexpensive trips to Puerto Rico, inviting viewers to question norms and embrace pleasure, comfort, and contentment for a meaningful life.

Mike emphasizes reevaluating priorities, embracing pleasure as a revolutionary act, and shifting away from the constant pursuit of success and self-sacrifice. Focusing on immediate joy and fulfillment can lead to a more satisfying life and a world that values genuine satisfaction over self-serving work.
