Cody Folta

Cody Folta, a 27-year-old visual artist from Somerset, New Jersey, currently based in Brooklyn.
One of Folta’s artistic intentions is to juxtapose different types of connections in his work. Through organic and sensitive figures, he explores embodied connections within a landscape. Cody Folta's artwork invites viewers to reflect upon their own modes of connection and to embrace the beauty of human interaction beyond words. Folta’s aim is to rekindle a sense of connectedness and dismantle destructive forces that hinder genuine care in our world. Through his art, he explores the delicate balance between being cared for deeply and being disconnected, offering profound insights into the human experience.

Drawing from his background in environmental science and ecology research, he seeks connections where others might not expect them, challenging societal paradigms and advocating for a harmonious coexistence with the environment. Folta's artistic medium spans across various dimensions, from painting to sculpture. He believes that painting allows for the expression of our subconscious, which often holds a deeper truth about reality than reality itself. Delving into the realm of sculpture, Folta meticulously sculpts with traditional tools like a hand mallet and chisel, investing significant time and effort into crafting each piece. Working in three dimensions provides a tangible weight and presence to his creations, evoking a profound sense of connection or disconnection.

As Folta continues to navigate his artistic path, his work serves as a testament to the power of art in fostering introspection, understanding, and the potential for a more empathetic and interconnected world.
